The Berlin Mauerweg marks the course of the former DDR-border installations of the Berlin Wall. It runs approx.160 kilometers around former West Berlin. In most sections, the cycling and hiking route follows the West Berlin customs road or the so-named Kolonnenweg which the DDR-border soldiers had installed for their patrols. Historically interesting sections, in which remains or traces of the Wall can still be found, alternate with scenic routes evoking the joy of a re-unified country.

The idea behind the Mauerweg frame set was to design a bike that would do justice to the conditions of the eponymous trail: fast but off-road capable.
